Testing the detect button! This is what it says! Doom! IT KNOWS WHERE I AM!!! Hehehe ;)
Back to drowning in work emails. I've been invited to more meetings. Why am I suddenly so popular? O_o :O It breaks my plan of working from home for some of next week! |

| | Wolfsheim - The Sparrows and the Nightingales | ] | I've been invited to a frighteningly high level 'IT business strategy meeting' on Monday morning. It's timetabled to be three hours long! There'd better be coffee :) Might sneak in some nuts or dried fruit so I don't feel ill from not eating for that time, as I know what long meetings do to me :D :D
It is Thursday, which means pub, and more importantly, the Dark Heresy game! I am very excited :D
I get the feeling that Maelstrom's going to be very hectic next week, from the amount of in character emails I seem to be getting about it already. I have 4 meetings organised so far. This is mighty, I love it when it's busy :)
Has anyone else notice the creepy 'Detect' button next to where you put your location in? Doom! :O |

| Very random question... |
[Jul. 15th, 2009|04:24 pm] |
Does anybody know what sort of vinegar one uses for pickling things (in this case, cucumbers)? |
|

| *bops away* |
[Jul. 15th, 2009|09:33 am] |
I got a most entertaining Maelstrom related email this morning. I love my colony :) Absolutely hilarious! Can't wait for next week now :D :D
It was the last session of this series of Landston yesterday. Complex political plot doom overload (in a good way)! My character got very angry with an NPC and ranted at him lots :) He then got exploded (emerging only a bit singed and charred, he's very tough). But in the end, after lots of mayhem, we're no longer wanted for treason and murder, we're not going to be executed and we managed to stop a war! Result :D And my character gets to go home and see his peasant wench girlfriend again :)
Now, I have a choice of databases, Torchwood or writing! I'll probably just bumble through the day doing all three... |

I was waiting to see when swine flu would turn up at my work... this is from an email I got just now...
Now that we have our first confirmed cases of swine flu on campus, the Major Incident Team has been mobilised. It is however important that we all follow Government and NHS advice during the coming weeks and months.
The Major Incident Team has been mobilised! That sounds so doomy! :D :D But perhaps slightly more worryingly, the swine flu is in a building only about 300 hundred yards from where I am right now! :O
Perhaps I should try to catch it now before it mutates into something super wonky :) |

| today started a bit wonky... |
[Jul. 14th, 2009|09:07 am] |
My bus didn't turn up so I am at home still! Fail! Oh well, time to go and see if the next one arrives... Am supposed to be on reception today, I think I will be getting a lot of bad writing done as I can't do much actual work on that computer! |
|
|
| -_- |
[Jul. 13th, 2009|10:16 pm] |
Gstreamer hates me! It turns out I had rhythmbox on my computer, but it seems to have some sort of gstreamer fail, which is also why the stuff I was poking yesterday would not work. In fact anything that is even remotely related to playing music hates me, except You Tube which so doesn't count :) I am evidently not intelligent enough to understand anything that has this many plugins... *sad face* I know you can download the plugins in nice little collected together groups, but trying to figure out what to do about the seemingly non-existent dependencies for some of them breaks my head. *stupid face*
Bah! I'm going to go and blow some stuff up instead :D |

| 1 day down, 3 to go... |
[Jul. 13th, 2009|04:32 pm] |
After an afternoon plotting the creation of various databases*, I am now going to go to Fabric Land! Wheeee! Of course my plans to buy black wool material might be utterly foiled by the fact that it's summer, but I shall try anyway as their fearsome sanity-loss inducing website says they stock such things.
* I also started writing some pointless fiction, it's probably rather predictable what it's about, but it's very amusing to my brain! :D |
|
|
| This post got a bit random, and not in a good way! |
[Jul. 13th, 2009|09:59 am] |
If there's one thing that gets me ranty, it's people saying the Bible says that 'men and women should have different roles', whilst saying 'oh but this doesn't make women inferior'. Um... HELLO? If you're saying a woman (or a man come to think of it) can't do something purely because of some random biological stuff rather than their actual competence, then surely you are implying that they are inferior! *ranty ranty rant* Ahem, yes. Silly LJ communities getting me wound up this early in the morning :D
I was going to write a post about being fed up that I still look like a skank teenager and I can't be doing with looking rubbish when I have stuff I have to 'look nice' at coming up, but there's not a lot I can do about any of it so there's not much point! I HATE having to try to look nice. It's just a lot of effort for absolutely no reward - I can't magically make myself 'pretty' and I usually feel really uncomfortable as then I also have to wear smart clothes! Epic fail!
Work is very quiet today. Half the office is on holiday or sick leave. I am almost tempted to use my extra hours owed to sneak home and play Dawn of War... :D :D |

| Sunday... continued.. |
[Jul. 12th, 2009|08:14 pm] |
I've just spent the whole afternoon installing then playing Dawn of War!!! SUCH A GOOD GAME! I'm on mission 5 so far :D Much more fun than trying to get mp3s to play! :)
Although it does make the computer switch off from overheating (it is set to power down before it melts/explodes/does other fail) :O I solved this problem by putting a fan next to the computer so it blows onto there to keep it cool :) No more overheating fail :)
Tonight may well involve Quake 4, although I am itching to get back on Dawn of War again... *twitch* O_o I am so easily addicted! And this week is so super-mega-busy I don't know when I'll get any time to play except tomorrow evening! Ahh the perils of computer games... |

| | Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (from youtube! Waah! Want mp3s!) | ] | Yesterday was good. I woke up, watched the German F1 qualifying, had food then fell asleep again. Then stealthracer appeared and we took computers to bits. For SCIENCE! It was like surgery for machines. If I ever play a tech priest in the 40K larp I want some of those reinforced computer power cables for costume. Is it weird to get costume ideas from the insides of computers? :D
Then there was curry and cinema (saw Public Enemies, I enjoyed it, yay for 30s gangster goodness)! And afterwards was Quake 4 installation, it runs very smoothly now. On LINUX! Mmmm :)
There was also the added bonus of the Nerf guns. stealthracer put an extra couple in his order from the US for me in return for painting his up for the 40k game! Gus is scared of the N-Strike Vulcan (and no, I didn't shoot him, or the cats, for that would be so harsh, it's just the noise he doesn't like)... DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA! In a few weeks when I have time I am going to go to Hobbycraft and get some paints, I have ideas for how to make them look suitably doom, comparing them with the pictures in the Dark Heresy rulebook one pretty much looks exactly like a boltgun if you take the barrel and stock off! :D
Today I am trying to get something that will work with my iPod on Linux. Banshee looked good but it isn't in the yum repositories! Naughty yum! Now trying with Amarok as that works brilliantly on my eee... but it is being troublesome and pretending it doesn't play mp3s :O
But I have done something useful today, I can has Microsoft office fonts in open office now :D :D Now I don't have to switch to Windows to print my mum's college work out :)
Now back to poking Amarok with sharp poky sticks. And then once I have done that I think I will switch to windows and install Dawn of War :D I don't mind switching to Windows for games ;) |

| dentist doom! |
[Jul. 10th, 2009|02:54 pm] |
Well that was pretty bad - no injection! I nearly bit the dentist's fingers off! :O Time to go and get some beer to numb the hurtyness methinks... I am also £45.60 poorer. Fail! But to look on the bright side, I might be able to eat chocolate again :D:D |
|

| oops... |
[Jul. 10th, 2009|12:23 pm] |
Over 2,600 words and 5 pages. I have never written so much rubbish in such a short time! And I've just realised I've not had coffee today! Oh dear...
Now I can get on with finishing my work before dentist later and the meeting in the student bar after that (it is an actual meeting, not us being naughty)! :) |

[Jul. 10th, 2009|08:59 am] |
RIP Hive Sibellus! May whatever innocent citizens remained of your 10 billion population find their way safely to the arms of the Emperor!
Um... yes. O_o Well, we shall see what remains of the sector capital next week, we might have to check out what's been going on in Hive Tarsus, there might be a planet wide exterminatus at this rate! :O :O So much doom :D
By far the best fun I've had all week :D My writeup of last night's events is already 2 pages long, and I've not finished it yet... ooops... |

| @_@ |
[Jul. 9th, 2009|04:04 pm] |
3 hours till pub. To keep myself occupied I posted some in character wafflejunk on the games club forum. But I am now scared as I don't like putting up my fail writings on teh internets where other people can see how much I suck at writing! *scared*
Lots of things are giving me doom today. There's one thing that is very fear inducing in particular (unrelated to the above). I expect all this strangeness is due to the fact that I made myself hyper wonky from consuming too many caffeinated beverages in the hope it would fix this cold... |

| afternoon of slowwww... |
[Jul. 9th, 2009|12:59 pm] |
I am being a DJ in the office today as it was sooo quiet we wanted music on. So far people have requested Blur and Lady Gaga. Very random! I wonder what I should have for my request? :D
The most interesting things that have happened are that my knee has popped out twice (I am not sure why but it was quite hurty), two colleagues have decided their kittens should get married to each other (prompting much discussion of cat weddings), and that I am being fed orange juice to see if that fixes my plague without causing an allergic reaction... As you can tell, we have MUCH boredness this afternoon.
6 hours till pub... |

| brainfuzz Thursday... |
[Jul. 9th, 2009|10:57 am] |
Still not feeling 100% - I think I have the tiniest little cold ever, not enough to go to bed, but just enough to be annoying! I want to sleep some more. I am drinking much coffee.
I have to be a bit careful with money for the next 3 weeks, my purchasing of various transportation gubbins (planes, trains, bus pass etc.!) has left me with less than I thought I had! Oh well totally my fault for getting everything at the same time, August I haven't got much going on so I will catch up then :D
Luckily I have money stashed away for stuff like pub and Wales next weekend :D
Maelstrom's going to be pretty tight though - I think all my money will go on the 3 taxi bits I have to do rather than food or beer! :( Although I just applied for a credit card for unrelated reasons (I want to make my credit rating awesome) so if they let me do that I might least be able to get some food from the supermarket, hehehe! :D
I think the only thing ungrumpyficating me is the thought of Dark Heresy tonight and also the computer poking and experimental nerf guns geekery session on Saturday :D |

| Wednesday... |
[Jul. 8th, 2009|06:41 pm] |
Back from Reading work conference thing, it was quite interesting and the food was good :)
I fell really rather ill! After dinner I'll have a shower then it's bedtime for me I think :(
This morning I saw a tour bus that said 'DJ Bobo' on the side. As in the chap who did the Switzerland entry for Eurovision in 2007 (yes, how sad am I, but I remember that song as it was epic cheese)... I wonder if he was in Bournemouth? :O |
|
|
| -_- <----- this is my bored face! |
[Jul. 7th, 2009|01:10 pm] |
Am making a page with 171 PDFs on it. Due to the quirky joy of the cms system, I have to upload these individually. Then I have to look up what the PDFs are and link them all. *snore* Still, I should be pleased that I only have to do this once a year :D
[*edit* aieee, I just figured out I have to alphabetise them all by what the PDF is, not the filename... *brainmelt*]
I wish I could think of something interesting to write about in here, this could win a prize for most boring LJ ever :( :( |

[Jul. 7th, 2009|08:55 am] |
It is not even 9 yet and already I have run out of internet! :O
Last night involved Torchwood and sleeping. Didn't do much else.
I get the feeling today is going to be very boring... still, I do have quite a bit of work to be getting on with... *snooze* |
